About

Keary painting for bio

Keary Kautzer paints in the American Modernist style, painting with limited hues to set a mood to draw the viewer in.   Living in Sheboygan along the shoreline of Lake Michigan is a main reason why many of his paintings have water related scenes.  A career in photography and video has enabled  him to transfer his visual experiences into his paintings.

Keary has studied watercolor painting with James Michael, especially en plein air.

Keary won the Best of Show and 1st Place honors at the 2009 Joan Kohn “Alive in the Arts” juried exhibition in Gallery 110 North,  Plymouth, WI.

At the 2009 Door County Plein Air  Festival  Keary’s  painting Journeyman won 1st Place at the Dockside Quick Paint competition.

Keary was one of  40 Featured Artists from across the country invited to the Door County Plein Air Festival in 2010.

Keary Kautzer is a member of the Wisconsin Watercolor Society, The Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Waters Edge Artists, and Sheboygan Visual Artists.
